Today I looked back at the "Calendar" of blogs. I started JOY ADVENTURER in 2010!! Wow. As I read back through some of them, I was inspired again.
At the beginning of Advent this year, I returned to reading the Gospel of Luke. I am continuing that study, but just reading until something GRABS me. I'm not very far along.
Today I read this in Luke 8:40: "...the crowds welcomed Him because they had been waiting for Him." This led me to a word study on "wait" or "waiting." Waiting means to stay in a place of expectation.
What I found was a myriad of ways to wait:
Psalm 40:1 - Patiently
Psalm 62:5 - Quietly
Micah 7:7 - Confidently
Luke 12:37 - Ready
Romans 8:19 and Hebrews 9:28 - Eagerly
And a favorite, Is. 40:31 - "But those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint."
How do I wait? Sometimes grudgingly, grumbling, with fear or dread. Sometimes I really do wait with excitement and joy...because I have seen God fulfill His promises so many times.
How do you wait? Jot them down and reply to this (that will help me know who's reading it too!!)
Let's practice our waiting.
